Valles del Desierto is a highway connecting the north-Chilean city of Vallenar with the popular beaches of Bahía Inglesa and Caldera. Its traffic is primarily related to the mining, agricultural, and tourism industries. The 221-kilometers of high-standard highway is operated and maintained via a concession contract, which has a variable term ending in 2043, at the latest. The operator has rights to receive a Minimum Guaranteed Income as a risk mitigation mechanism. Valles del Desierto is controlled by the Spanish company Sacyr.
