Rutas del Desierto is a highway connecting the destination city of Iquique to the Diego Aracena Airport (Route 1), and the city with the historic mining sector of Humberstone (Route 16). The concessionaire operates and maintains 78 km and has two risk mitigation mechanisms: a variable term ending in 2043, at the latest, and rights to receive a Minimum Guaranteed Income. Rutas del Desierto is controlled by the Spanish company Sacyr.
